HFB | Cockerill Sambre
On the edge of Liège, a giant of steel and concrete sleeps. Built in 1962, when the blast furnaces glowed like blazing hearts, this vast factory fed entire generations. Forty thousand people once labored beneath its towering smokestacks, day and night. But in 2008, the fires began to fade, and by June 2014, silence fell for good. Now, as demolition slowly eats away at its bones, the factory stands as a monument to an era of iron ambition watched over only by drifting crows and the occasional patrol of security, who guard a place no longer alive, yet far from forgotten.
