Heel Castle forms the core of a former monastery with a nursing home for the mentally handicapped. 'St. Joseph Institute' and expanded around 1900. From 1910 onwards, only women were nursed here and it was given the name 'Huize St-Anna'. (Note from Dirk Poelman on August 18, 2011: This is not correct. I came there as a 9-year-old boy in early 1950 to mid-1953 and attended primary school there until the third grade. There were two groups of residents at the time.
